Accounting or Finance degree with 5+ years of recent accounting experience at a manufacturer required.  Cost accounting experience a plus.

A Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reporting weekly, monthly and quarterly gross profit reports. This position is also responsible for assisting in month-end closing and performing inventory reconciliations. The Senior Accountant reports to the Corporate Controller and works in concert with other finance counterparts in the pursuit of operational excellence and the all-around success of the company This position is located at the corporate office in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, analyzes and reports weekly, monthly and quarterly gross profit analysis by location and by inventory
  • Records and reconciles production and overhead labor reports for Contract Packaging
  • Reviews operating expenses and general ledger detail for Contract Packaging and making the necessary adjustments
  • Assists in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, analyzes inventory evaluation and inventory roll forward
  • Researches and reviews accounting transactions as required
  • Works on special projects as required
  • Supports the preparation of audit and tax schedules; works papers to support the compliance audits
  • Ensures time submission, accuracy and validity of inventory and gross profit reports to the management team
  • Assists and reviews bi-weekly payroll functions. Responsible for commission calculations and other functions related to payroll
  • Assists in the preparation of annual budgets and sales forecasts

  • Possesses the ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data

  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office products
  • Possesses the ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts and reserves

Education/Experience

  • College degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Minimum 5 years of Accounting experience/ Cost Accounting
  • Thorough understanding of business processes
  • Knowledge of the Paper/Allied Products industry preferred

Computer Skills

  • Knowledge of various accounting systems
  • Ability to adapt and understand complex inventory systems
